The atoms of our bodies are traceable to stars that manufactured them in their cores and exploded these enriched ingredients across our galaxy, billions of years ago. For this reason, we are biologically connected to every other living thing in the world. We are chemically connected to all molecules on Earth. And we are atomically connected to all atoms in the universe. We are not figuratively, but literally stardust….So that when I look up at the night sky, and I know that yes, we are part of this universe, we are in this universe, but perhaps more important than both of those facts is that the universe is in us. When I reflect on that fact, I look up.
~ Neil deGrasse Tyson, astrophysicist

Ground: A dark night sky
Light: Millions of stars

This week, the miracle and mystery of our origin – in the stars – has appeared in my field several times. I’ve included four of my encounters: Tyson last week, White yesterday, Coehlo just 15 minutes ago, and a Facebook meme that appears every now and again.

Also, I’ve written many haiku about the stars. Here are two:

Origins

Seeing the Pleiades
In the Night Sky, I Quicken,
Touch Eternity.

Stardust

The Buddha, tree, rain
Ferns, lichen, you and me. Stuff
Of stars rearranged.

We are travelers on a cosmic journey. Stardust, swirling and dancing in eddies and whirlpools
of infinity. Life is eternal. We have stopped for a moment to encounter each other, to meet,
to love, to share. This is a precious moment. It is a little parenthesis in eternity. ~ Paulo Coelho

…if you…ever start to doubt
 your beauty
or brilliance

just remember:
…you are a symphony of stardust
and you were born to shine.

About the Stones

This necklace, another of the 44 StoneCircles, is named Stars Shining Bright Above. It is designed to support you in remembering that the quiet and powerful light of the stars can only be seen by the human eye through the darkness of the night.

This piece sits by The Serpent Mound in Ohio, USA. Far from being a symbol of fear, one recent theory connects this enigmatic earthwork to the sun, moon, and stars and specifically to the constellation Draco, The Great Dragon.

The stones are red tiger eye, black onyx, and green goldstone.

Read more of the story including the significance of the stones’ attributes, the colors, numbers, and the geometry that are built into the design. It emerged in 2002.
