The ingredients of play are precisely the ones that fuel learning: in addition to promoting a state of low anxiety, play provides opportunities for novel experiences, active engagement, and learning.  ~ Center on the Developing Child, Harvard University

Scientists have recently determined that it takes approximately 400 repetitions to create a new synapse in the brain – unless it is done with play, in which case it takes between 10 and 20 repetitions.  ~ Dr. Karyn Purvis, Institute for Child Development, TCU

GROUND:
being on earth, anxiety and stress, questions of how to make a positive difference
LIGHT:        being on earth, relaxation and ease, innate engagement with creativity and learning

Play is a gift and a miracle. What an important place it has in our lives! And not just during childhood but all through our entire lives. Play is an example of what can help us center, reclaim a bigger perspective and, in other words, it can help us ‘go vertical.’

While considering this, I came across a Charter for Children’s Play. It’s good for children. Additionally, when I substituted words relating to children and childhood with words that apply to people of all ages, it also becomes good for everyone. Here is what resulted:

Play is a fundamental way that we enjoy our lives. It is essential to our quality of life.

Play is fun. It is how we enjoy ourselves.

Play  promotes our development, learning, imagination, creativity, and independence.

Play can help to keep us healthy and active.

Play allows us to experience and encounter boundaries so we can learn to assess and manage physical and social risk in our lives.

Play helps us to understand the people and places in our lives, learn about our environment, and develop our sense of community.

Play allows us to find out more about ourselves, our abilities, our interests, and the contributions we can make.

Play can be therapeutic. It helps us to deal with difficult or painful circumstances such as emotional stress or medical treatment.

Play can be a way of building and maintaining important relationships with others including  family, friends, colleagues….

About the Stones

Celestial Rays (Sun) are 55 – 65” radiant lariats. Each of the 12 + 1 rays is uniquely designed to support us as waves of energy. They remind us that we are made of the same stuff as the stars! Like the sun and other stars, we have the capacity to generate, express, and radiate light! Each lariat has a different frequency of light energy and all of the frequencies are virtues composed of goodness and high vibrations.

This Celestial Ray is named Creativity and Inspiration. The stones are blue topaz, chrysoprase, citrine, green onyx, pearl, riverstone, rhodonite, turquoise, watermelon tourmaline. It emerged in 2004.
