Explanation is not needed – only exclamation, a wondering heart,
awakened, surprised, feeling the mystery of life each moment.

Recently I posted a photo on FB of this crop formation that occurred on June 7, 2023, in Wiltshire, England. I have followed crop formations with awe and appreciation for decades. Even so, this new one touches me especially deeply. At initially seeing it, I was struck by the simultaneous simplicity and complexity of it. The geometric perfection! Not to mention that it is 300 feet in diameter. That’s the length of an American football field from goal line to goal line. And that’s just east to west. North to south it would extend up into the stands.

One response I got to the post was from someone who was sincerely asking about what research is going on relative to these phenomena. He wrote: “It seems to me that in recent years, this whole topic of crop circles has shrunk a bit from public view and conversation. I find that amazingly odd. These are clearly created by non-human hands, and serve as symbolic messages of some kind. Does anyone out there in the hive mind know of anyone who is at the top of current research on this topic?”

I responded, “I have, at times, followed the scientific research but, frankly, I find that it doesn’t lead me to any place that is useful for me. In my opinion and experience, these formations are about appreciating the Mystery, the Miraculous, and the Unexplainable [to the Western mind at least]. The Beauty! The Perfection! No further explanation is needed. These profound formations, which clearly have symbolic meaning, are based on Sacred Geometry. For me, appreciating them is a way to experience the awesome breathless joy of childhood innocence again.

I suggest that the magnificent benevolent ethereal creative beings who create them are among us and have been for what? Eons? They continually, most often invisibly, give us Gifts Beyond Measure in myriad ways that include but go far beyond crop formations.”

Here’s one example from Discover African Art: The Dogon tribe of Mali have a legend that is one of the better known related to visits and support from loving and benevolent extraterrestrial beings.

“The Dogon have become popularized for their ancient tales on human origins and extraterrestrial contact. According to legend, a race of beings called Nommo, came from the star system Sirius, thousands of years ago. The beings are said to have come to Earth and provided humans with knowledge. They gave the Dogon information about their solar system as well as our own.

“These same creatures also appear in Babylonian and Sumerian myths. Oddly, the Dogon did have knowledge for centuries that were, until Galileo and his telescope, unknown to the Western world. They identified Jupiter’s moons and Saturn’s rings and knew that the Sun was the center of our solar system. They have stories about the big bang and other astronomical events. They had awareness about an invisible companion star orbiting Sirius that was unidentified until 1970. It baffles scientists to this day that an ancient race had knowledge of solar systems that cannot be seen without the help of high-powered telescopes.”

I notice that, at times such as these, I am willing to incorporate new information but, even more, I am deeply grateful for having Mystery in my life. May we each sit quietly with curious minds and open hearts and contemplate the power and gift of not knowing and the joy of experiencing the unknown with childlike innocence.

I have read Freddy Silva’s book, Secrets in the Fields: The Science and Mysticism of Crop Circles, more than once and have used it as reference so much that my copy fell apart so I bought a second one. He has several different ideas of who / how / why the formations are created including sound, light, light beings, and the Earth Herself. It’s a wonderful read!
